Studio Nibelheim: Christmas with Brownlee

In 2012 he was Don Narciso in Il turco in Italia at the Dutch National Opera. This month tenor Lawrence Brownlee is back in Amsterdam to perform Don Ramiro in La Cenerentola. The production runs until December the 28th, so he won’t be home for Christmas. Studio Nibelheim is honoured to have Mr. Brownlee as a guest.

“With Christmas I am away from home, but thanks heaven, we have Facetime and Skype”, says Lawrence Brownlee. He tells about his memories of Christmas at home and choses some music that brings back those memories.

Brownlee, who is one of the world’s finest bel canto tenors, not only talks about ‘the most wonderful time of the year’ but also about his very personal song cycle Cycles of my being. At the end we hear him sing about the angels that guard his family, far away in Ohio.

Featured in this podcast: ‘The Promise’ by Ricky Dillard, ‘And He shall purify’ from the album Handel’s Messiah: A Soulful Celebration, ‘Hark The Herald Angels Sing’ by Take 6, ‘Inhale, Exhale’ from Cycles of my being, performed by Lawrence Brownlee and Myra Huang, ‘It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year’ by Andy Williams and ‘All Night, All Day’, performed by Lawrence Brownlee and Damien Sneed.
